Information about the event
The event featured high-level keynote speakers, who shared their inspiring solutions.
There were interactive workshops and plenty of opportunities for networking and sharing views. Participants had the chance to explore innovative public transport concepts and tools and learn how to apply them.
On top of that, participants gained useful insights on passenger needs and how to co-create innovative ideas with them. CIPTEC showed how you can change someone's travel behaviour with small and affordable interventions.

Are you ready to have your brains picked? We will gather input from the interactive sessions to fuel a wrap-up panel discussion. The panel will consist of representatives from EMTA, EPF, AUTh, DG Mobility and Transport and Polis.
- CIPTEC recommendations and next steps
We will use what we learnt from CIPTEC and from the day's discussions to define policy recommendations to support the development of public transport. Be ready for some innovative proposals.

CIPTEC project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 636412
Niels van Oort (39) is part-time assistant professor of Public Transportation at the Delft University of Technology. His research interest concerns improvements of networks and schedules and impacts of new mobility modes. He developed innovative models and methods, using new data sources such as vehicle, smart card and mobile phone data. His work has been applied in several actual projects, e.g. at the planning of the Uithoflijn, a new tram line in Utrecht, as input for the Societal Cost Benefit Analysis. He has published several papers and frequently speaks at conferences about innovation, planning and potential benefits of public transport. He has studied the performance of many light rails projects worldwide and will soon publish a book on that. He is involved in several public transport projects in the Netherlands via his part-time job as public transport consultant at Goudappel Coffeng. At the moment, he is constructing a new research group at the TU Delft, with close cooperation with the industry: The Smart Public Transport Lab, see 
Mr. Antti Vuorela has a vast experience in digitalization and streamlining processes in agile and lean ways. “Expect the unexpected” is his motto. He has been a speaker at various world congresses such as UITP Milan World Congress, ITS Bordeaux World Congress and UITP Mena World Congress Dubai and EMTA Helsinki General Meeting, Finnish National NFC/RFID Conference, SmartCities Stockholm and WICS Ankara. MSCE Antti Vuorela has over thirty years of varied experience in tasks related to public transport and transportation systems. He has worked as a project manager in several significant public transport development projects. Since 2010 at The Helsinki Regional Transport Authority he has been specializing in digitalization and customer experience. Currently he works as Special Researcher managing digitalization projects and developing new concepts. The concept of Digital Dialoque (Passengers, Operators and Authorities working together) is truly unique and the first in the world, as was the Quality Monitoring System (Jola).
Isabelle Vandoorne has been a civil servant at the European Commission since 2001. She is Deputy Head of the Sustainable and Intelligent Transport unit at DG MOVE, focusing on CEF funding, digitalisation of transport, multimodal mobility services and urban mobility. Previously she worked in the areas of intelligent transport systems (2015-2016), railways (2009-2015) and telecoms (2003-2009), and with digitalisation projects in the field of EU taxation (2001-2003). Before that, she worked for the Belgian Railways SNCB-NMBS (1995-2001). She holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical/Telecom Engineering from the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons in Belgium (1989-1994), where she also worked as a researcher (1994-1995).
Both nationally and internationally I give juridical advice, lectures and workshops. Besides that my skills make me an excellent chairman. My fields of expertise are urban connectability, livability, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Everything I do is in light of progress and lasting results for now and in the future.
My mentality is proactive, my vision integral. I connect all facets by both leveling in on street level and by zooming out on regional level. This method provides me with solutions with a direct trade perspective.
Because achieving long-term goals means short-term action.
